NFT: the first tweet is on sale again, for a colossal price

NFTs, these “non-fungible tokens” or non-fungible tokens, are constantly exploding. The excitement is high for these less and less obscure digital works which can be exchanged, and for which a digital property certificate is attached thanks to a technology called “blockchain”. The first SMS in history thus sold 107,000 euros, recall The echoes. Works of art are also trading at gold prices on this NFT market. But the amounts could soar even more.

Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter, published on March 21, 2006: “I create my Twitter account.” Namely, in English: “Just setting up my twttr.” These few words are now for sale for the modest sum of … 48 million dollars, on the OpenSea platform, specify Les Échos. This same tweet had been bought for 2.9 million in March 2021 by Sina Estavi, leader of Bridge Oracle, a Malaysian company specializing in the sector. More precisely, it is in cryptocurrency that this tweet is offered: 14,669 ether, reports Bloomberg.

The entrepreneur had bought it directly from Jack Dorsey and this represented, at the time, a historic record. Sina Estavi announced that 50% of the amount of the sale would go to an NGO, GiveDirectly, which works in particular in Africa. Jack Dorsey hinted that he could even give 99%. And Sina Estavi responds that if, initially, he wanted to reinvest in the blockchain, he could indeed increase his donation.
