The attack helicopter belongs to Russia destroyed a convoy of Ukrainian armored vehicles and military equipment. The news was reported by the Interfax news agency citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“The KA-52 attack helicopter destroyed weapons and military equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces,” Interfax reported.
In its report, the Russian Ministry of Defense is said to have shown video footage showing the KA-52 helicopter flying at low altitude. Moments later, the Russian helicopter launched missiles and fired them at targets from the air.
However, the location and time of the attack was not described in the footage.
Earlier, Russian troops also reportedly opened fire on civilians in Donetsk, Ukraine. As a result, 5 people died.
“Today, five people died after the Russian shelling in the Donetsk region,” Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said.
Pavlo said the four civilians who were shot dead died in the town of Vugledar. While one other resident died in the city of Novomikhaylovka.
In addition, Pavlo explained that five other civilians were injured from being shot. “There were five other civilians who were injured in the shooting,” he said.
Currently, fierce battles were taking place in the region. Residents still living in the area were urged to evacuate, even before Russian troops arrived.
On Saturday, the Ukrainian army announced on Facebook that it had destroyed four tanks, eight armored vehicles, seven enemy vehicles, an aircraft, as well as helicopters and drones.
