Khamzat Chimaev is still undefeated after going the toughest match of his career against the world number two Gilbert Burns at UFC 273! The UFC Swede had to fight really hard to take home the win that will place him at the top of the welterweight class.
The epic welterweight match against Burns won the Fight of the Night bonus and makes Khamzat an even bigger star than he already is. It was an important experience for Khamzat who had never played a full match before. All his previous matches had ended in the first or second round via finish.
After the judges named Khamzat the winner, the Swedish star spoke to the UFC commentator Joe Rogan in the octagon. Khamzat shared his thoughts with me and thanked Burns for a great match.
“He’s a damn tough brother,” Khamzat Chimaev told Joe Rogan after the UFC 273 match against Gilbert Burns. I did not know he was so tough! But the guy grew up in Brazil. I know Brazilians, many of them are my brothers. My brother here, he’s been with me since day one. He is from Brazil and he helped me before the match. Thanks for the match Gilbert, Khamzat continued. I love you brother, all respect! I’m just doing my job to make money.
– I’m happy, I’ve been waiting for this for a very long time. I have played ten matches with ten finishes. This never happened to me. Now I’m bleeding, I’m tired and I feel a little pain. I love this shit.

Reactions to Khamzat Chimaev’s epic match at UFC 273: “WHAT A WAR!”
Khamzat Chimaev also spoke with the UFC’s afterwards Laura Sanko and opened up further about his thoughts on the match.
“I had been waiting a long time for a war,” said Khamzat Chimaev. But I was far too excited to knock him out. I told the guys I was going to knock him out and I was looking for it. That’s why I did not use my fists as well as in training. It was not my best. My boxing is much better than that. I’m sorry for my coach, that I did not do my best. But you learn and you come back and crush everyone, Khamzat said with a smile.
