The head of the state Health Secretariat (Ssa), Jose Antonio Martinez Garciaannounced a “special day” to apply the booster vaccine against covid-19 to all the lagging population with residence in Puebla capital and the most populated municipalities of the state.
The official commented at a press conference that the inoculation process will be from Monday, April 11 to Wednesday, April 13 and the population from 12 to 14 years old with comorbidities, young people from 15 to 17 years old in general and pregnant women who are minors, who will be administered the vaccine Pfizer; meanwhile, those over 18 years of age will be given the dose of AstraZeneca.
Subject to confirming the location of each vaccination post, he pointed out that some of the municipalities contemplated for this exercise are Puebla capital, San Andrés Cholula, San Pedro Cholula, Huauchinango, Zacatlán, Teziutlán, San Martín Texmelucan, Izúcar de Matamoros, Tehuacánamong others.
Martínez García affirmed that the vaccination days will continue until each population group approved by the federal government has a booster dose, as he recalled that over the months, the antibodies of a first or second dose are reduced, which that accelerates the possibility of becoming seriously ill in case of acquiring the coronavirus.
“Vaccination is going to continue, it must continue, we have goals for our entire target population from 12 years old and so on until decades of life, this must continue until the booster is finished, with this the vaccination is not yet over. vaccination”.
The Secretary of Health pointed out that for now the federation does not contemplate allowing each state and private initiative to buy anticovid biologicals on their own, however, he pointed out that the Puebla Ssa is in dialogue with the Roadrunner Brigade so that they deliver vaccines to the states and they distribute them in the health centers of each municipality, as happens with vaccination campaigns for diseases such as influenza, hepatitis or measles, among others.
“We are in talks to try to release the biological, obviously with state control as if they were vaccination campaigns, so that we have vaccines in all health centers and this increases the possibility of bringing the biological closer to the municipalities, the Secretariat of Health has 50 years of experience vaccinating and we are very efficient in that,” he concluded.
