Leiena said the EU would do everything in its power to support Ukraine in taking the “necessary steps” to secure membership of the bloc.
“The whole world is mourning with the people of Bucha, and it is they who are defending Europe’s borders, defending humanity, defending democracy, and that is why we support them in this important struggle,” said Leiena.
The EU has decided to allocate € 7.5 million to Ukraine to investigate war crimes in the Kiev suburbs of Bucha and other cities.
