(CRHoy.com) The Ministry of Health again overlooked the mandatory yellow fever vaccine for people who must travel to countries at risk. This is due to problems of dose availability.
Given this scenario, the governing body gave the order to once again exempt the control of said immunization in the terminals.
“Given the reduced availability of doses and in compliance with the Decree of Regulations on the International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever, the Ministry of Health informs the population, as well as the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners and the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism the exception of control of said immunization for people who live in Costa Rica and who must travel to countries or areas of risk”reported the institution.
The measure will apply from this April 8 and until next May 8 of the present year.
This is the second chance that this measure is excepted, since in January the ministry announced that this vaccine would be available again until mid-February and therefore this would serve as a justification for not inoculating with these doses.
The World Health Organization (WHO) describes the yellow fever as an acute viral illness, hemorrhagic, transmitted by infected mosquitoes.
“The term ‘yellow’ it alludes to the jaundice that some patients present”, explained the health agency.
The symptoms of this disease are: fever, headache, jaundice, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and tiredness.
Since 2007, the Executive Power has declared mandatory the vaccination against yellow fever people from countries considered at risk.
