Hundreds college student hold an action against the discourse of postponement Election 2024 and the extension of the presidential term in Semarang, Central Java. The action was chaotic when the police tried to extinguish the posters and banners that were burned by students.
Monitoring CNNIndonesia.com at the location, the action took place in front of the Central Java Governor’s Office, Jalan Pahlawan, Friday (8/4). Students from a number of campuses in Semarang took turns giving speeches.
After that they burned a number of posters and banners demanding. The authorities tried to extinguish the fire. However, the students tried to maintain the fire.
The pushing each other had occurred for a while. They also got into an argument. Several students were seen throwing mineral water at the police.
Chaos can be controlled. After that, the students resumed their action and gave speeches.
In their action, students also highlighted Jokowi’s attitude of not taking sides with the small people. This is evident from the rising prices of cooking oil to Pertamax fuel oil (BBM).
“Pak Jokowi’s leadership, as we have seen with economic instability, has represented his leadership because the state failed to eradicate cartels and mafias with a shortage of cooking oil, this is proof that Jokowi’s leadership is not good,” said one student, Nurul.
After today, students will again hold an action on Monday, April 11, 2022. Their demands are the same, rejecting the postponement of the 2024 election discourse and the extension of the presidential term. The action will be simultaneously in a number of cities in Indonesia.
Today, the Bogor student alliance also held an action around the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java. They also rejected the discourse of postponing the 2024 general election and extending the presidency. Students had closed the road around the Palace.
