Occupations that will only grow in demand this year – older people who have decided to retrain are also choosing them

Mostly highly qualified workers needed in the IT sector, in the engineering industry, is reported in a press release. Due to the development of these sectors in Lithuania, the demand for labor is high. Also, the products developed by these sectors are in high demand – that is, the products developed by the IT sector are used by others (automation, robotics is controlled by the products developed by IT). Newly constructed engineering companies in the FEZ, for example, are opening factories in the furniture sector that need engineers.

According to Daruli, one of the biggest changes caused by the pandemic is remote and hybrid work. Teleworking increases the chances of attracting workers from geographically remote regions – companies can choose from a wider range of candidates, which is a good situation for workers.

However, those professions that cannot be provided remotely do not lose demand either. This year, doctors and nurses, foremen and foremen, construction managers, foremen and foremen, teachers of basic and secondary education and special needs, social workers, and warehousing staff will have great employment opportunities.

“The aging of the population is increasing the need for medical professionals. The need for nursing assistants or similar professions will continue in the future. They are also more often chosen by older jobseekers who are willing to participate in retraining programs that allow them to return to the labor market, ”said the Deputy Director of the Employment Service.

In 2021, the following occupational groups had a higher supply than demand: drivers of heavy trucks and lorries, butchers and fishmongers, operators of food and similar products, teachers of special needs students, electrical engineering, packaging, bottling and labeling operators, bus drivers, construction foremen and foremen, specialist doctors, cooks, concreters. The need for most of these workers is also reflected in the Missing Occupations List in 2022, which was supplemented by 41 related occupations.
