Easter weather: – Warm weather at Easter

The spring-loving can rejoice that the heat is now really coming and pushing the winter away.

In large parts of the country, some precipitation is expected, which in the increased temperatures will be more marked by rain in the lowlands, but there are still good chances of getting a new Easter sun, both in the south and north.

Sun chances

– It will be milder weather for Norway south of Stadt and Dovre, says Elbjørg Moxnes, meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute.

Even though it will be milder, it will probably not only be an Easter idyll for southern Norway in the coming week:

– There will be fog and precipitation during periods for southern Norway. For Eastern Norway, it will now be the weekend that it is most likely to see the sun, says the meteorologist.

– Western Norway can have periods of stay and sun throughout the week. But it will probably be a lot of gray here too.

Snow in the height

When asked what the mountain weather will be like in southern Norway, Moxnes can tell that it is still winter, for those who get high enough.

– This weekend there will be a lot of snow showers, and more snow showers the further west you go. There will be a lot of wind as well, so there will be winter conditions in the snow mountain, says Moxnes.

In the lowlands, the heat will change the form of precipitation, and white landscapes can quickly turn gray, when the fog and rain set in.

– It will probably change to rain below 1000 meters above sea level. For example, on Sjusjøen and in Hemsedal, both of which are around 800 meters, there may be precipitation such as sleet, wet snow and rain.

There are still good chances of getting basketball in the Easter sun in the east of the country, the meteorologist can tell:

– In eastern mountain areas, there will be more sun, more Oslo weather than Vestlandsvær, but also here there will be a lot of wind, and there may be gales in the most exposed places.

Go to Northern Norway

For those who are still hunting for the best place and spend Easter, the meteorologist can report that it is probably most favorable to look north.

– South of Stadt and Dovre, it can be difficult to find an attractive place to celebrate the Easter holidays. Then maybe you should rather go to northern Norway, says Moxnes.

– In the north, it is not unusual to have a little more winter weather at Easter. It’s not quite ours up there yet.

Subject to uncertainty in the forecasts, Moxnes says that in Nordland there may be days with offshore winds and sun in the coming week.

– In northern Norway you can get what we here in the south might think of as winter holiday weather, says the meteorologist.

In Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal you can also hope to see the sun from time to time in the winter weather.

– In Trøndelag, Møre and Romsdal there will be snow showers this weekend, but then it looks like it will happen. There will be periods of showers, but there may be some sun occasionally, says Moxnes.

Travel Friday

For those in the south of the country who have thought about mountain passes on their way into the palm weekend, Moxnes can inform that it would be wise to leave as early as possible.

– North in the mountains in southern Norway, in the transitions to Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag, where it can be rough weather already night to Saturday, says Moxnes.

With this rough weather, there is a good chance of snowdrifts, and with that you also risk closed mountain passes.

– So for those who are going to drive the mountain passes, it will probably be better to go on Friday, rather than postpone until Saturday, the meteorologist sums up.

And it can be a nice excuse to have for those who want to leave work a little early on Friday.
