The Russian Embassy in Bucharest made clarifications, through a message published on Thursday evening on its Facebook page, regarding the case of the man who entered the wall of the institution and later set himself on fire.
The embassy talks about the man who “tried to break the gates with a ram” and said that two officials from the institution risked their lives by pouring water over the gates, over the burning car:
- “The statement regarding the incident with the driver of the car who tried to break the doors of the Embassy with a ram. Returning to the tragic incident with the driver who tried to rush the car to the gates of the Embassy and set himself on fire, we further report that two officials of the diplomatic mission already in the first minutes after the fire, just before the firefighters arrived, using all available means and risking -and they tried to save the man who was on fire in the car, and they poured water over the car above the gates. This information, as we understand it, escaped the view of the Romanian media “, the Russian Embassy in Bucharest transmitted.
Bogdan Drăghici, the president of the TATA Association, died on Wednesday morning after the car he was in hit the metal fence at the Russian Embassy and burned it in a fire, according to G4Media.ro sources.
In his last post on Facebook, Bogdan Drăghici wrote: “I am Ukrainian too! It would be wonderful to consider all of us Ukrainians until the horrible war that threatens all mankind to death is over! ”
Bogdan Drăgici was sentenced on Tuesday by the District 2 Court to 15 years and 4 months in prison for rape and corruption of minors, according to G4Media sources. The decision was not final and could be appealed.
The case prosecutor stated that the driver set himself on fire inside the car after hitting the gate of the Russian Embassy. “The driver turned on a device,” the prosecutor said. They found containers with flammable substances in the car, he added.
