JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia will have 3 new provinces. Thus, there will be 37 provinces in the country.
The plan for the addition of this province is regulated in the Draft Law (RUU) concerning the Province of South Papua, Central Papua Province, and Central Highlands Papua Province.
The bill was ratified by the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI in a plenary meeting held on Wednesday (6/4/2022).
In the plenary meeting, all factions in Baleg agreed to the bill on the three provinces.
“After we listened to the opinions of all the factions and agreed. What are the results harmonization of the bill on Papua Province South, Central Papua and Central Highlands Papua can be approved?” asked Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Achmad Baidowi in the meeting.
“Agreed,” answered the trial participants.
So, what are the coverage areas of the three new provinces?

Later, these three new provinces will cover the dozens of regencies that are now included in Papua Province.
The following is the coverage area of South Papua Province, Central Papua Province, and Central Highlands Papua Province which was approved by the Legislative Council of the DPR:
