“A young girl who is well“, the first feature film of the actress Sandrine Kiberlain, brings together an exceptional cast with in the main role the young Rebecca Marderresident of the French comedy.
She is Irène in the film, a 19-year-old girl, Jewish in 1942, in love with life and the theater. She prepares for a competition, recites Marivaux and finds love.
For her screenplay, Sandrine Kiberlain consulted her own people, gathered testimonies, constructed a story and dialogues before purifying the subject and choosing to tell us three things about the war and its context: we must wear the yellow star , have his identity papers stamped with the mention “Jewish” in red, and drop off his everyday objects, such as his bicycle, at the town hall. No German cars, noises of boots, images of arrests… It’s the silences that speak and increase the tension.
The gateway to the film is the life of a young girl who traces her path despite the circumstances.
