Carrying One 3 Kilogram Elpiji Tube, That’s Government Subsidy of IDR 33,750

JAKARTAKOMPAS.com – President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati revealed that the subsidy borne by the government for Elpiji is Rp 11,250 per kilogram.

So the total for each 3-kilogram LPG cylinder or known as gas melon, the government provides a subsidy of Rp 33,750.

Unfortunately, of the total consumption of LPG in Indonesia, as much as 93 percent is 3 kilograms of LPG or subsidized by the government.

Whereas the LPG should only be consumed by poor families and MSMEs, such as warteg.

“The question is, is it true that the 93 percent are the ones who should receive the subsidy). In fact, today the LPG which is sold at 93 percent is subsidized by Rp. 11,250 per kilogram. ” said Nicke in a joint hearing with Commission VII DPR RI, Wednesday (6/4/2022).

Seeing the amount of subsidies that the government has to bear, Nicke hopes that the distribution of 3 kilograms of LPG can be more targeted, especially for the poor and small business actors.

Because the portion of melon gas sales which reached 93 percent, it means that many people who can afford it use it.

“So please, this must also be right on target. If it reaches 93 percent, it’s not possible that 93 percent of the Indonesian people are underprivileged and are selling warteg, right,” he said.

He ensured, in the midst of such conditions, Pertamina would continue to monitor.

But on the other hand, he also asked the government to be able to detail the technical details of providing LPG subsidies so that they are right on target.

“We also ask the government to further detail the user criteria so that Pertamina and also APH (upstream subsidiary), as well as local governments can carry out better monitoring in the field and take action,” concluded Nicke.
