Karim Benzema spoke to L’Equipe about title favorites in the Champions League. The Frenchman attests to FC Bayern’s defensive weaknesses.
Going into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, Karim Benzema doesn’t see a clear favorite for the title. The Real Madrid center forward is of the opinion that the most dangerous team has already been eliminated: “The team that scared me the most was Paris.” He himself shot the Parisians around Lionel Messi with a hat-trick in the round of 16 second leg Competition.
Benzema sees susceptibility to counterattacks at Bayern
Benzema, on the other hand, was unimpressed by Manchester City, Liverpool FC and Bayern Munich. He even noticed a weakness in the defense of the German record champions: “Bayern is a team that scores goals, but also concedes a lot,” explained the 34-year-old. “I watch their games and sometimes they run into counterattacks where two defenders meet four attackers.”
On Wednesday evening, Munich are guests at FC Villarreal. Benzema and Real Madrid meet Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea at the same time.
