Jason Momoa’s next series is a heart project: “Chief of War” tells the story of his Hawaiian homeland.

The successful collaboration between actor Jason Momoa (42) and the streaming service Apple TV + continues. After the joint series “See – Reich der Blinden”, which has been running there since 2019, he will deal with a topic in the newly announced production “Chief of War” that should be particularly important to the native Hawaiian. As reported by the US site “Variety”, it is about the unification and subsequent colonization of the island chain.

The history of Hawaii is told in the format from the perspective of the indigenous people, the report goes on to say. But Momoa will not only act as the main actor in the first season of the series, which is initially set to eight episodes. He has also been trusted to co-write the story with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett and serve as Executive Producer on Chief of War. Doug Jung, another producer, is named as a proposed showrunner.

Got a taste for the screenplay?

Momoa seems to be increasingly comfortable in show business away from the camera. It is true that he is working on the script for “Chief of War” for the first time in a series. The star has also been scripting the upcoming western The Last Manhunt with Pa’a Sibbett, in which he also stars as a supporting actor. He is also listed as one of the co-authors of the upcoming “Aquaman” sequel. Momoa made his debut as a screenwriter and director in 2014 with the thriller Road to Paloma.
