Tottenham join Arsenal in the race to sign Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez

Tottenham have joined the race to sign Inter Milan standout striker Lautaro Martinez.

His North London Arsenal have recently been linked with a move for the 24-year-old Argentina international.

Both clubs are in the market for a new centre-forward at the end of the season and both are looking for candidates ahead of a potential Champions League campaign.

Tottenham are interested in signing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez this summer

Italian publication CalcioMercato reported that Tottenham are ready to battle with their local rivals for the Argentine’s signature.

Manager Antonio Conte is said to have prepared a list of potential targets for managing director Fabio Paratici.

That list is believed to include Martinez but would require a club record fee with the reigning Serie A champions wanting at least £67m for their man.

Antonio Conte previously worked with Martinez before leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season.

Conte previously worked with the striker until his departure from Inter Milan at the end of last summer.

The Italian manager guided Inter to the Serie A title before his departure from the club, with Martinez helping the cause by scoring 17 goals while forming a prolific partnership with now-Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

Martinez has carried that form into the season, scoring 14 goals in 28 appearances for a team in contention for the title alongside AC Milan and Napoli.

There is also interest outside the Premier League for Martinez, with Atletico Madrid believed to be interested.

If Spurs sign Martinez, he would provide additional competition up front, with Harry Kane the only genuine number 9 in the club at present.

Arsenal are also interested as Alexandre Lacazette (pictured) and Eddie Nketiah are in the final months of their contracts.

Martínez is contracted at Inter Milan until 2026, although the club could be willing to let him go if his assessment is met.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are in desperate need of an additional striker as Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are the only recognized strikers at the club following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal are yet to replace Aubameyang, while Lacazette and Nketiah could leave this summer as their contracts at the Emirates Stadium run out at the end of the season.

The departure of Juventus star Paulo Dybala is another option for the Gunners, although Inter Milan are also believed to be interested.
