March 2022 it was particularly bad for the Italian car market. As we saw yesterday evening, in the month just ended registrations fell by 29.7% compared to 2021. According to UNRAE, among the reasons that led to this result, also the wait for the new incentives which is leading people to wait for the new contributions in order to get a better price for the purchase of the new cars.
A decline that has also affected electrified cars, both hybrids and both Plug-in and electric. Speaking, for example, of the BEV models, compared to March 2021 there was a decrease in registrations of 38.8%. All this translates into a market share of 3.7% against that of 4.3% in March 2021.
Going into detail, let’s see now how registrations of hybrid, plug-in and electric cars went in March 2022.

In Italy, in this month of March, certainly Tesla can smile seen that its Model Y was the best-selling electric with 678 units registered. Moreover, the Tesla Model 3 took fourth place with 378 registered cars. The result of the electric SUV is very interesting, especially considering the future. With the entry into operation of the German Gigafactory that will serve to meet European demand for the Model Y, the shares of the electric SUV could rise significantly in the coming months.
