Esteban Vizcarra was officially released by Persib Bandung after more than two years in the team. Vizcarra’s contract expires on April 1, 2022. At the direction of coach Robert Alberts, management did not extend the contract of the naturalized player from Argentina. Vizcarra has also said farewell via his Instagram social media @este_vizcarra.
After releasing the 35-year-old player, Persib Director Teddy Tjahjono still has not found a replacement. He and the coach will discuss in more detail about the team’s evaluation and plans in navigating the new competition next season.
“Yes, the contract expired and was not renewed. He finished April 1st and the coach decided not to renew. Until now there has been no (replacement), we are still discussing with the coach first,” Teddy responded on Sunday (3/4/2022).
Vizcarra’s departure from Persib is not surprising, if you look at the player’s contribution to the 2021/2022 Liga 1 with Persib he has not been able to score goals in 18 appearances. The player who wore the number 10 jersey also began to lose confidence as the season entered the second round.
Teddy is also still waiting for Robert’s decision on two Brazilian strikers David da Silva and Bruno Cantanhede. He also refused to comment further, about several players who will end their contracts in the team. “It’s still not decided, just wait (the fate of the two attackers),” said Teddy.
