Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson has been caught on video, dancing topless on furniture and cursing at doormen as a rowdy co-star was leaving.
The Sun on Sunday exclusive published today, April 3, captures Corrie’s star Alexandra Mardell’s raucous farewell night.
Simon, 47, who plays Steve McDonald on the ITV soap opera and was runner-up on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, was described as a poor judge of the situation.
A source told the Sun on Sunday: “Simon was acting pretty wild, but more in the sense that he was in high spirits and was getting carried away.
“She had obviously had a good night and was out with a lot of Corrie’s cast and crew.
“But towards the end of the night, Simon obviously thought it was a good idea to jump in for a topless dance. He was on a piece of furniture using it as a kind of makeshift stage.
“It looked like he already had his shirt off and was spinning around and showing off his beer belly.
“The crowd was laughing and cheering, with many people egging him on, and most people saw the funny side. But some clubbers also shouted insults at him, which was unnecessary.
“It was all kind of fun, but it’s a pretty fancy place and having a topless middle-aged guy belly dancing on stage at the end of the night is not the kind of image they want to project.
“They didn’t seem to care that he was a celebrity and Simon seemed pretty pissed that the bouncers stopped him in his tracks.
“He thought the staff hadn’t seen the funny side and seemed to argue with them.
“In the end, after some gentle persuasion, Simon did as he was told, although he obviously thought they were being spoilers.
“They put him down and then forced him to put on his clothes. He was then asked to leave the bar. Simon was being spontaneous, but he misjudged the situation.”
A source at the bar told the Sun on Sunday: “Simon is a regular and hangs around here a lot. But on the night in question, he was a bit cheerful and had to be treated as such”.
