On Wednesday, March 9, Mariupol City Hall reported that Russian soldiers had destroyed the children’s hospital and maternity hospital. Scary photos have traveled the world (here) of bloody expectant mothers who evacuate from dilapidated buildings. One of them was the Ukrainian influencer Marianna Visehirska.

Russia hurried quickly. Reports of a hospital bombing marked the “fake news” and Marianna, who became a symbol of the suffering of Ukrainian women, were described by the pro-Kremlin media as an actress hired by Ukrainian soldiers.

The young woman, who in the meantime had given birth to a baby girl, Veronika has now decided to use Russian propaganda once again. She dropped the claim that Marianna was an actress. Now they consider her a key witness to what “really happened” in Mariupol that day.

The result is a conversation in which a Ukrainian woman describes an attack on a hospital in the same spirit that the Kremlin describes it. It is not possible to find out whether she gave the interview voluntarily or under pressure, or to what extent the words she says are her own. And no one knows where the young mother is now; whether it was taken by thousands as a “humanitarian corridor” to Russia.

Marianna Visehirska claims in a video published by the Russian side that the building of the Mariupol Hospital was hit by shots, not by bombs dropped from the air. He does not mention who carried out this attack.

He also claims that Associated Press journalists were on the scene throughout the attack. He criticizes them for taking pictures of her, despite her explicit disapproval. “I saw a soldier in a helmet with a camera and asked him not to film me because I didn’t want to be published anywhere. He said ‘okay’ and left. And then he started filming me on the ground floor, “says Marianna in the video.

According to the independent Ukrainian journalist Olga Tokariuková, the interview is significantly modified and it is possible that some important parts of it were cut out.

According to Tokariuk, it is likely that Marianna is currently in Russia. If this turned out to be true, her story would confirm the concerns of Ukrainians about what is happening to their compatriots who come to Russia. That is, they torture them until they get them out, that everything they believe in is a lie.
