Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann says the confusion involving Bayern Munich’s substitutes, which saw the champions face 12 players seconds from Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Freiburg, was due to a wrong number appearing on the picture.
The incident came in the 86th minute when Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman were due to be sacked in favor of Marcel Sabitzer and Niklas Soleil.
But the fourth official showed Koeman a wrong number and played the French winger for a few seconds, according to champion and referee Christian Dingert.
“The fourth referee showed the wrong number,” Nagelsmann told a press conference. “King (Koman) didn’t know he had to leave. It’s been eight or nine seconds and I think we played that way. It wasn’t a watershed incident but it’s still kind of weird.
“It’s normal for the fans to discuss it. I know who is to blame but I won’t mention them and I’ll do you a favor. I’m glad we won. »
Freiburg coach Christian Streiche said his team had no intention of appealing: “I think we won’t have to appeal. We abide by those rules and that’s all I’ll say about them. »
It was unclear if there would be any consequences for the Bavarian side as referee Dingert said he noted the incident in the match report.

“The wrong number was displayed, so Koeman didn’t feel like he was referring to it. While clarifying the situation between the team and the referee, the dismissal of the player was overlooked. It is really boring. »
“We boycotted the match. It took a little longer to clear it up. That’s why we had eight minutes of added time. We noted in the match report that this is what happened.
“Within 16 seconds (Kemann played) not much happened and now it’s up to the colleagues of the German Football Association. »
Bayern had to work for their win after Freiburg’s Nils Petersen ruled out Leon Goretzka’s opening goal in the 58th minute.
The next targets of Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Koeman and Marcel Sabitzer tightened their grip on the title chase as their near rivals were embarrassed at home.
Bayern’s win puts them top of the table with nine points, with six games to go.
RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer scored twice and set up the third to claim a stunning 4-1 victory at home to second-placed Borussia Dortmund on Saturday that dashed the hosts’ slim hopes for the title.
Leipzig, who tightened their grip on fourth place with 48 points, scored back-to-back when Laimer knocked the ball past goalkeeper Gregor Kopel in the 21st minute to shock the first sold-out crowd at Signal Iduna Park in addition to two years. . .
What was supposed to be a big football party for the hosts, with top striker Erling Haaland in the starting line-up and in front of 81,000 fans, turned into a nightmare when the Austria international added Laimer again with a shot unexpected 10 minutes later.
Frustrated Dortmund, who had two golden chances early in the first half with Marco Reus and Haaland, found no response after the break. Haaland, who injured his ankle earlier in the week while on international duty with Norway, was far from his best.
Leipzig overcame the game when Christopher Nkunko, who was edged by Leimer with the heel of his foot, produced a superb attack to make it 3-0 in the 58th minute.
Substitute Doniel Mallin managed to close the gap for a short time in the 84th minute with a header at the far post, but Leipzig responded two minutes later with a Dani Olmo shot from outside the penalty area to achieve certain victory.
