BECAUSE OF THE PRICE OF GAS: How much will life cost? – Politics – Bulgaria – NOVA News

After the record rise in gas prices on Friday, experts and industry expect a new rise in life. The highest price in history so far of BGN 142 per megawatt-hour will lead to problems for a number of industries. The rise in prices is also expected to affect the prices of fruits, vegetables and cereals.

Dinko Topuzov has seriously reduced the use of gas heating in his apartment in the middle of winter. He went on electricity after paying a record bill. He does not heat his entire home, but his bills remain high. Due to the next increase, he does not see how he would start using gas again.

EWRC decides: Natural gas rises by more than 25%

“I haven’t used half of the month either, because in December I had about 600 leva for gas. I think that it will still affect us consumers “, commented Dinko Topuzov.

Energy experts are also not optimistic about the sharp fall in the price of natural gas.

“The trend is for a slight increase in the spot market for liquefied gas, which affects Russia and Bulgaria. There should be some increase for May as well “, explained the energy expert Hristo Kazandjiev.

This is how we will all feel the next increase in gas. The fertilizer industry runs on blue fuel, and vegetable growers are heavily dependent on it.

“Fertilizers are needed for food production. After fertilizers become more expensive, it is logical that food also becomes more expensive “, explained Vladimir Ivanov from the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.

The reason for the jump of 25% the government sees in the instability of stock exchanges.

“The prices on the stock exchange are extremely volatile, the situation is literally changing every day. However, what is to be announced at the next European Council in Brussels is the proposal for joint negotiation and purchase of gas, “said Lena Borislavova, government spokeswoman.

To this day, the situation with gas payments remains unclear. Neither Bulgargaz nor the Council of Ministers has yet asked Russia to change its currency.

“The position of Bulgaria and the whole of Europe is firm – we will not succumb to this blackmail and will not violate the agreements we have signed,” said Borislavova.

It is also unknown when negotiations on a joint EU agreement with Gazprom will begin.
