Yesterday, the Faculty of Legal and Labor Sciences hosted an act of homage to lawyer and writer Xosé Luis Franco Grande, who gives his name to the Legal Research Award in the Galician language that the center has just launched.
The recognition was attended by the General Secretary of Language Policy of the Xunta, Valentín García, the president of the Galician Legal Irmandade, Xoaquín Monteagudo, the rector of Vigo, Manuel Reigosa, the dean of the faculty, Francisco Torres, and his coordinator of Linguistic Normalization, Xose Manuel Pacho. Rosalía Franco, daughter of the honoree, also participated, who came with her sister Navia and Franco Grande’s grandchildren.
Valentín García referred to the lawyer as “a total Galician, a defender of linguistic normalization and integrity”, while the rector Mnauel Reigosa advocated remembering and relying on his history “to make a better future” with respect to our language.
Following the interventions, a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the center’s entrance.
