KIEVRussia launched missile attacks against a number of cities in Ukraine from Friday evening to Saturday (2/4/2022) morning. This attack marks the re-escalation of Moscow’s war in its neighboring country which began on February 24.

The city of Poltava, became one of the Moscow military missiles. According to local officials, infrastructure and residential buildings were destroyed.

“Potava. A missile hit one of the infrastructure facilities overnight,” Poltava region official Dmitry Lunin wrote in an online post.

“Kremenchuk. Many attacks in the city in the morning,” he continued.

Lunin later said at least four missiles hit two infrastructure objects in Poltava while, according to preliminary information, three Moscow planes struck the Kremenchuk industrial facility.

The city of Poltava is the capital of the Poltava region, east of Kiev, and Kremenchuk is one of the major cities in the region.

According to Lunin, there was no immediate information on possible fatalities. Reuters news agency could not immediately verify the report.

Russia denies targeting civilians in its war on Ukraine, calling the biggest attack on the European country since World War Two a “special military operation.”

Another city that Russia has attacked is Dnipro in southwest Ukraine. Several missiles hit infrastructure facilities, injuring two people and causing significant damage. Valentyn Reznichenko, the local head of the region, said this in an online post.

He added that in the town of Kryvyi Rih, a gas station had been fired upon. This attack causes a fire.
