Europe has the ambition to be CO2 neutral by 2050. This means that gas emissions must be avoided or compensated for. To achieve this goal, the European Commission has launched a Green Deal with interim targets. These stipulate that CO2 emissions for the European Union as a whole must be 55% below the 1990 level by 2030.
