A Russian teacher has been arrested after her own students reported her to the authorities for anti-war comments, the BBC reported. Nova tv. Teenagers in the southern city of Penza recorded a conversation with Irina Genn, their English teacher, on March 18. The reason is the cancellation of a planned sports trip to the Czech Republic, on which the children asked their teacher for comment.
According to a transcript of the conversation published in the Russian media, the teacher says that it is right to cancel the trip and that such things will continue until Russia “starts behaving civilly.”
The 55-year-old teacher compares her country to North Korea and “expresses a different view of the war in Ukraine than the official one,” the media reported. It is estimated that Irina Gen could be fined up to $ 60,000 or sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
