Portugal international Bruno Fernandes has extended his contract with Manchester United until 2026 with an option for a further year. This was announced by the English record champions on Friday. The 27-year-old switched from Sporting Lisbon to sixth in the Premier League in January 2020.
“There is so much more I want to achieve here. And I know the rest of the team and the coaches feel the same way,” said Fernandes. “More than anything else, we want to give the fans the success they deserve.” Nine league games before the end of the season, coach Ralf Rangnick’s team and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo are still fighting for a place in the Champions League.
Portugal celebrates World Cup participation
Fernandes has scored 49 goals and provided 39 assists in 117 appearances for the Red Devils. This season, however, the noble technician was not in top form, he scored nine times in 37 competitive games. On Tuesday, the midfielder sent his Portuguese side to the finals in Qatar with a brace against North Macedonia in the World Cup play-off.
