The police deemed Luiz Henrique a criminal, and chased him, opening fire at him. Luiz Henrique then fell into the river.
Because he can’t swim, Luiz Henrique tries to survive to float. The young footballer then had the opportunity to be rescued by someone in a canoe, but the man was prevented from helping him by the police.
For 11 hours Luiz Henrique was in the river. Until finally when he was found, the 21-year-old player was already torn apart by a piranha!
His mother, Leila Coelho, Luiz, said her son had been missing from Educandos, Manaus in northern Brazil, for 11 hours when his body was found. Police and firefighters later joined in the search for the missing footballer on the Rio Negro River, a tributary of the Amazon River.
When found, Luiz Henrique’s body was no longer recognized. Parts of his body destroyed because devoured by piranhas.
According to some Brazilian media, Luiz Henrique actually did not commit a crime. He only fell in while trying to avoid the police, who were chasing a group of criminals, after coming home to watch the game.
The police themselves denied his mother’s accusation that the police forced the footballer into the river and was not helped. The police instructed the family to file a complaint with the Public Security System Home Affairs Office.
