The voicemail feature in the Whatsapp application was first introduced in 2013 and is now one of the options for sending messages. According to data from Whatsapp Indonesia, at least seven billion voice messages are sent by users every day.

Here’s a list of updates that Whatsapp provides to improve its user experience:
1. Playback outside chat
Previously listening to voice messages kept users glued to the chat room and did not allow them to multitask. Now with the available updates, users can perform other activities on the phone or read and respond to other messages.
2. Pause or resume recording
Users can now pause and resume recording. This can be very helpful if the atmosphere around the user feels too noisy or the user needs to think about what to say.
3. Waveform visualization
Visualization on the recording can help the user know the volume of the sound in the recording, so that it can increase the volume if the recording is too low.
4. Draft preview
Previously the recorded voice will be sent directly to the other person. Now with the available updates, users can preview messages before they are sent.
5. Playback marker
If the user pauses while listening to a voice message, the user can now resume the last playback when returning to the chat room.
6. Fast playback on forwarded messages
Users can now play voice messages at 1.5 times or 2 times to listen to voice messages faster in regular messages or even for forwarded messages.
