Suspected Robber Attacks Security Guard at Manhattan Pharmacy With Needle – NBC 7 New York

Authorities are looking for the robber suspected of attacking a security guard with a hypodermic needle as he tried to make off with a Gatorade from a Duane Reade in midtown Manhattan, New York City Police said.

According to the New York City Police, the suspect entered the Duane Reade in East 34th Street around 10:15 a.m. on Saturday and proceeded to fill a bag Fresh Direct with a Gatorade and other items.

He was leaving the store when a 64-year-old security guard intervened. At the time, police said the suspect pulled out a hypodermic needle and tried to stab the guard with it. The struggle continued and the suspect eventually ran away, leaving the Fresh Direct bag with the Gatorade and other goods behind.

The guard suffered pain in his left hand but refused medical attention at the scene.
