KIEV – President Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky doubt the plan Russia to reduce military operations, saying only real results can be trusted.

Zelensky made the remarks on Telegram on Tuesday as Russian and Ukrainian negotiators continued efforts to mediate an end to a conflict now nearing its fifth week.

Zelensky’s suspicions arose on the same day that Russia signaled a troop withdrawal and a possible new phase of the war.

“The signals we hear from the negotiating platform can be called positive,” Zelensky said.

“But these signals did not sink the Russian shrapnel.” NewsweekWednesday (30/3/2022).

Turkey is currently hosting peace talks between the two sides after Russia failed to seize the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. Russian officials now say they are trying to defuse the conflict.

Alexander Fomin, Russia’s deputy defense minister, told reporters on Tuesday that troops would withdraw from Kiev and Chernihiv, a city in northern Ukraine.
