Brigadier General Iwan Setiawan was appointed to Danjen Kopassus who had just replaced Major General Widi Prasetijono. Kadispenad Brigadier General Tatang Subarna said that there needs to be regeneration, so that in the TNI AD organization, changes are made.
“Regarding the mutation of Pati (High Officer) within the Indonesian Army, including the Danjen Kopassus, it is true,” he told CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (29/3).
“Currently, the handover has not been carried out,” he added.
It is known that Major General Widi Prasetijono has only served as Danjen Kopassus since last January. It is short because Iwan Setiawan will be replaced in the near future. Regarding this matter, Tatang said it was natural because there needed to be regeneration within the TNI AD.
“This is a natural thing because regeneration and career development patterns for Indonesian Army Soldiers are needed,” he added.
Iwan is a 1992 military officer. The man who was born in Bandung, West Java on February 16, 1968, served as Danyon 22 Group 2 Kopassus in 2008.
Having served as Danrindam Jaya in 2015-2016, Iwan was then trusted to serve as Danrem 052 Wijayakrama for two years, 2016-2018.
Then became Pamen Denma Headquarters 2018-2020 followed by Danrem 173/Praja Vira Braja throughout 2020-2021. Before being trusted to be the new Danjen Kopassus, Iwan filled the position of Waaslat Kasad for Military Affairs since 2021.
Iwan Setiawan is one of the officers who participated in the Mount Everest expedition with Prabowo Subianto in 1997. At that time Iwan was still holding the rank of First Lieutenant, while Prabowo was Danjen Kopassus.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Widi Prasetijono, who was replaced by Iwan, has served as Danjen Kopassus since January 21, 2022. He is a high-ranking Indonesian Army officer who graduated from the 1993 Military Academy.
He was an aide to President Joko Widodo during 2014-2016.
