Another employee of the Zeeland-West Brabant police unit suspended

The Zeeland-West-Brabant police have launched a disciplinary investigation against two employees for transgressive behaviour. One employee has been suspended, the other has been transferred, police said. Four officers from the same unit were previously removed from office.

The measures are related to an internal investigation by the Security, Integrity and Complaints department. This investigation was started after several police officers reported transgressive behavior by colleagues to supervisors and confidential advisers at the end of January. They are said to have handled the use of force without care and displayed undesirable behaviour.

At the beginning of February, the first two employees were laid off on the basis of the investigation. Two more followed at the end of February. “It seems that this highly undesirable situation has been going on for a long time,” said the police earlier.

According to the police, the misconduct mainly occurred within one team area. It is not clear which team area this is. According to Broadcasting Zeeland it would be a police station in Zeeland.

The investigation is still ongoing and will take some time, according to police.
