The yo-yo. Since the start of the year, the gap between Chartres and Versailles has fluctuated from twelve to five points. This Saturday, March 26, thanks to a 4-2 success in Blois while Versailles was hung by Romorantin (0-0), the CCF reduced it to six units. Enough to believe it again. But, will Jean-Pierre Papin’s team be able to take advantage of the last seven days to dethrone the leader?

On the beat of 2022, no
Impressive since the start of the year (7V, 1N, 1D), Chartres has garnered 22 points out of 27 possible, or 2.44 per game. But, during this time, Versailles remained undefeated. And if the Yvelinois conceded four draws for five wins, they still pocketed 19 points, or 2.1 per day. If the two formations continue at the same rate until the end of the championship, the CCF, with 17 additional units in its bag, will only take two or three points from a leader who will glean 14.7. Enough to keep the pressure on until the end, but not to beat the Ile-de-France residents at the post…
With a no-fault, yes
“Hoping Versailles falls, we know what we have to do to get over it. We need to finish the championship with seven victories”, proclaims Jean-Pierre Papin. If his CCF team manages to achieve a clear round at the end of the championship, it will have its chances of winning accession. By adding 21 units to their counter, the Chartrains would finish with a total of 63 points. By imagining that the leader maintains, during this time, his rhythm of the season, i.e. 2.08 points per game, he would end up with 14 or 15 points more, therefore 62 or 63. The ticket for the National would then go to the CCF or would be played at the general goal-average since the individual does not allow to decide between the two formations (1-1 to go and return). In this case, advantage today in Versailles, which has a goal difference of +22, against +12 at the CCF.
With regard to the calendar, it is possible
It is difficult to assess. But the end of the Versailles championship seems a little more tricky than that of the CCF. The Yvelinois will play four times on their ground, where their record is less good (19 points taken against 29 outside), and will have to struggle with three teams concerned by the fight for maintenance (Vitré, Saint-Malo and Plabennec). Not necessarily a gift in the money-time… Chartres, he will evolve only three times at home where he is most comfortable (25 points taken against 17 away). But, apart from Granville during the last day, who could be fixed on his fate by then, and Poissy to a lesser extent, he will only face opponents with nothing left to play for. Among them, however, the three reserve pros
The Versailles calendar: at Rouen, against Vitré, against Caen, at Saint-Malo, against Plabennec, at Saint-Pryvé, against Blois.
The Chartres calendar: against Lorient, at Guingamp, against Poissy, at Caen, at Châteaubriant, against Vannes, at Granville.
The unfortunate example of 2019…
Closing a gap of six points in seven days, Chartres knows that it is doable. He had seen it at his expense during the 2018-209 season. In the lead, on the evening of the 23rd day, the team then led by Jean-Guy Wallemme had a 7-point lead over Bastia-Borgo, only fifth. But, in the end, it was the Corsicans who had won accession. They had finished in cannonball (6V, 1N) while the CCF had collapsed (3V, 1N, 3D) to finish two lengths behind. In total, the Bastiais had therefore taken nine points from the Chartrains!
