The Pittsburgh Penguins had a fun Sunday night to say the least in the home game against the Detroit Red Wings. except that Yevgeny Malkin scored three goals in his return from illness, Rickard Rakell also made his first ostrich as a penguin.
Pittsburgh won but a clear 11-2 against the Detroit Red Wings last night, so not many goals have been scored in the NHL in 19 years.
Despite a clear shooting advantage to the away team Red Wings, it was the home team that stepped on the ice after the first period with a 2-0 lead. It was perhaps the frustration from Detroit that led to the second period then conceding as many as five goals on 12 shots.
As if that was not enough then they also won the last period with 4-0 and Rickard Rakell who was recruited to Pittsburgh last week was the player who got to put the last puck, although it may not be a necessary goal to salvage the victory was it nice for Rakell to score his first goal. In addition to the goal, his chain had a really fun evening. Rakell scored the goal and two assists, Yevgeny Malkin who was back in the lineup after a period of illness scored three goals and one assist and the third link in the chain Bryan Rust also scored one goal and two assists.
The Swede Lucas Raymond in the Red Wings also came into the points record with his assist to Dylan Larkin’s 1-6 goal in the second period.
