Switzerland switched to summer time overnight from Saturday to Sunday. The night was one hour shorter, but the evenings will be clearer for longer.
Sunday at 02:00, the clocks were advanced to 03:00. Daylight saving time will last until the last Sunday in October.
The possible abolition of the seasonal time change has become a subject of political discussion in recent years, especially in neighboring countries, the Federal Institute of Metrology (Metas) recalled on Tuesday. No decision has been taken so far, either at the level of the European Union or in the States.

In agreement with neighboring countries
The US Senate has also just voted unanimously to abandon winter time, to make summer time permanent. The fate of this bill, however, is uncertain: to enter into force, it must be passed in the House of Representatives and signed into law by President Joe Biden, who has the power to veto it.
According to Metas, Switzerland is monitoring developments in neighboring countries and will carefully examine whether any adaptation of the timetable regulations is relevant and in Switzerland’s interest. Until further notice, the current regulations remain in force.
Since 1996, all EU countries and Switzerland have joined forces to put their clocks forward one hour on the last Sunday in March and back one hour on the last Sunday in October. This concordance is mainly motivated by economic reasons.
