We feared a goalless evening, or very little, this Monday between Le Havre and Bastia (24th day of Ligue 2). It was quite the reverse. Boredom was never there, especially not in a first period with twists and turns!
The warning had been given relatively early. On his right wing, Cornette overflowed had to center back to Boura. The left side, at the end of the race, was unable to properly take up the leather to push it into the empty goal (6th). Already, the Bastia block revealed faults. The next two were going to be fatal to them. Abline was first mowed down by Placide too short in its output. The penalty was converted by Abdelli (1-0, 9th). Then, a quarter of an hour into the game, a new counter got the better of the Islanders. In the area, Cornette was livelier than Pleaseand fell in contact with the ex-Guingampais. Abline didn’t have to be asked to adjust Placide and put Les Normands on the right track (2-0, 16th). The HAC saw its first home victory since October take shape.
This drawing, however, remained in draft form! Because this start to the match was going to be sensational. Bastia had kept all his spirits, and his hopes of coming to sow doubt in the opposing ranks. For that, what better than a distant goal from elsewhere Vincent to restart the game? The midfielder cleared Fofana’s skylight with a clear shot (2-1, 24′). Those who had preferred to be interested in football rather than their half could not dream of a better Valentine’s Day! The match, alert, offered solid hopes of a fourth goal, even a fifth! You didn’t have to wait half an hour to see Schur propel, from the head, the leather in the aim of a Fofana powerless, on the heels (2-2, 30th)! The Océane stadium was shot down, sounded. The team members of Santelli came back from hell! Those from Signs sank into it.
Le Havre without a solution
The Ciels and Marines saw doubt invading them. Spontaneous exchanges gave way to numerous approximations and technical errors. The break came at the right time to restore order in the middle of this big, and beautiful, mess! But, despite their good will, the men of Paul LeGuen still showed too many technical shortcomings and an inability to increase the pace. The breaches were still real in a disorganized Le Havre block. And on a new offensive of Santellileft side, a corner won by the SCB saw thin, at the far post, resume victoriously with a header (2-3, 56th). The promoted had just knocked down a much too tender and passive HAC.
Was the awakening of the dean club going to go through the bench? The experienced Thiaré, Lekhal, Fontaine and Bonnet were making their entrance. The HAC, by force of circumstances, settled more regularly, but not intensely, in the opposing half of the field. And, with rare exceptions (Abline, 71st, Bonnet, 85th), situations to equalize were rare. Bastia had decided to double-lock his trunk, score the 4th at the end of the game by Do (2-4, 90th + 5) and return, on the Île de Beauté, with the 3 points of a success oh how precious in the race for maintenance. Because, after 2 thirds of the season, the Corsican club is 15th with 4 lengths ahead of the barragiste. On the contrary, Le Havre still losing ground on the top 5 (6th at 4 points). The fault, essentially, of these 6 straight games without a win at home…
