If you have a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo or another luxury car, but already think that space is a bit tight, this should concern you. Because here is the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, the latest electric car from the German group.
And to the great joy of Norwegians: This is a real station wagon.
True enough, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept is currently only that. A concept. But during a digital presentation, Audi’s designers quickly point out that 95 percent of what you see in the photos is what the new Audi A6 Avant e-tron will look like.

At length with a BMW iX
That it also gets visible door handles is a joke, because otherwise a lot will be the same on the concept and the production model.
Audi has already launched the Sportback concept with the A6 name, at the Shanghai trade fair in 2021. The station wagon version has the same dimensions, which indicates a length of 4.96 meters and a width of 1.96 meters.
By comparison, a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is 4.97 meters long and 1.96 meters wide, while a BMW iX is 4.95 meters long.

700 kilometers range
In addition to the J1 platform Audi shares with Porsche, Audi uses the VW Group’s MEB platform. None of these are used in the new A6, but rather the upcoming luxury platform Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which according to Audi will provide high ground clearance.
Official figures for the upcoming Audi A6 Avant e-tron without the concept name at the end have not been released, but Audi still has some figures to come up with:
The car gets 800 volt technology and 270 kW fast charging. 10 minutes of charging should give a new 300 kilometers range and 5 percent to 80 percent charging should take 25 minutes.
Battery capacity of 100 kWh, but other levels will also be offered.
Range of 700 kilometers, depending on which battery is selected.
476 horsepower (350 kW), 800 Nm and 0 to 100 in less than four seconds, but other models with lower engine power must also be offered. No A6 should do 0 to 100 in over seven seconds.
The PPE platform allows for air suspension and adaptive chassis, and of course four-wheel drive.

Highly advanced lights
According to Audi’s designers, the headlights are the narrowest they have ever made. Nevertheless, there should be room for both “Digital Matrix LED” and “digital OLED” technology that allows the driver to decide for himself what the light signature should look like.
Another exciting aspect of the headlights is that they can be used as film projectors. For example, if the car is parked in front of a wall when charging, they can use the time in the car to play video games on the wall in front of them. The game’s virtual landscape is then displayed on the wall, cleverly enough.
The taillights are also highly advanced, promises Audi, which points out that they can be used to create almost infinitely many different personal variations of digital light signatures, and the owner must be able to adapt the expression to his personal taste.

Launch and delivery
While the Sportback version of the Audi A6 e-tron is expected to be delivered to customers in 2023, the Avant edition is expected to be produced in 2024. Since the production-ready car has not yet been shown, it is too early to estimate anything tangible about price.
Today’s Audi A6 Avant with diesel and petrol engines, however, costs from NOK 751,500 including Norwegian taxes. That the upcoming electric car will be placed below Porsche, but on a par with competitors BMW and Mercedes-Benz, is natural to assume.
