Phil Collins gave birth to his last concert ever, due to a long battle for health. The 71-year-old music legend – who can no longer hold a wand after back surgery – has performed with Genesis at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday night. He said goodbye to his fans and told the audience that he now has to find “a real job”. The group – which includes Phil, keyboardist Tony Banks and guitarist-bassist Mike Rutherford – reunited for their tour, “The Last Domino”.

Phil appeared quite frail throughout the tour, sitting in a chair as he performed with the group for their first live dates in 14 years. His nerve damage prevented him from playing drums and he also has to walk with a cane.

He recently explained how the show was changed as he now needed to sit down. «I do nothing – he explained to the Guardian -. I don’t practice singing at home, at all. The evidence is the practice. Lmy health changes things, doing the show sitting changes things»he added, explaining how sitting he felt «in the way» in the show. The health of the Genesis legend has deteriorated over the past 15 years.
Collins has had problems with a vertebra in the upper part of his neck, which has led to paralyzing nerve damage, and is also battling acute pancreatitis.
In a message posted on the Genesis website, Phil explained: «Somehow, on the last Genesis tour, I dislocated some vertebrae in the upper part of my neck and it hit my hands. After a successful neck operation, my hands still do not function normally: for now it is impossible for me to play the drums or the piano», insistendo, however, not to be “distressed” by his prognosis.
