The already assured World Cup participant Netherlands and Denmark played a friendly match against Saturday night. The Dutch led 3-1 with confident play after the first half. During the break, the Danes swapped in and Lindström was replaced by Christian Eriksen, whose heart had stopped in the first match of last year’s European Championship and had to be revived on the pitch.
Eriksen qualified for Brentford in January, and since he’s doing well in the Premier League – he can play for 90 minutes – he was also invited to the national team. After standing up against the Dutch, he scored almost with his first touch of the ball in the 48th minute. As can be seen in the video, Olsen fired the top right corner perfectly from 12 meters after the ball was rolled in, the goalkeeper had no chance of passing.
The Dutch eventually won 4-2 with Bergwijn’s goal in the 71st minute, but Eriksen’s return to the national team could not have been more successful, and he must be taken into account when appointing the World Cup team.
