The first event of the mixed Angers programme, the Prix Georges du Breil, was a steeplechase bringing together 4-year-old competitors who had mostly already shown great things on the track. Contested at a selective pace, the race was led until the entry of the final straight by Ilyva, before the latter slipped away, brutally ejecting Stéphane Paillard. Coming from the last rows Sangho du Mathan stretched out well to pick up Oxygen in the last meters. After a victorious start at the start of the year at Machecoul, the colt of Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé had just finished 4th here. He is a son of Bathyhon out of Swahilie du Mathan, the dam of the excellent Amour du Mathan (Grand Steeple de Compiègne Gr.2).
