Ukrainian President Zelensky in talks on Oscars role

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the world’s top film awards, is reportedly unsure whether it’s a good idea. The organization would doubt that the award is apolitical. The American TV channel ABC, which broadcasts the show, would like to see Zelensky.

Comedian Amy Schumer, one of the presenters of the Oscars, said earlier this week that she had pitched the idea to The Academy. On Drew Barrymore’s talk show, Amy seemed to suggest there was no interest in it. “I’m not afraid to stick my neck out, but I’m not the one producing the show.”

The Oscars will be presented for the 94th time this Sunday at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. And while all of Hollywood is busy trying on dresses, taking suits and rehearsing speeches, there’s a lot of other stress too. Due to corona, it is exciting until the last moment: who tests positive and who does not?
