NYPD released footage of the suspect shooting a 3-year-old girl as she left her Brooklyn daycare center on Friday.

Officers immediately rushed to the scene, administered first aid to the 3-year-old girl, dressed her wound and rushed her to Brookdale Hospital in their own squad car.

His father was not the target

At a news conference, New York Police Department Chief Kenneth Corey said the suspect fired about five shots before fleeing on foot. And that, although it is not clear who he was aiming at, they do not believe that the target was the father of the girl.

The little girl, who has not been identified because she is a minor, is the third girl shot in as many months in the city.
