LOS ANGELES (Nettavisen): In the city of stars, Renate Reinsve and Anders Danielsen Lie are among those who shine the clearest, the duo with the main roles in Joachim Trier’s Oscar-nominated “The World’s Worst Man”.
On Sunday, they can take home two awards during the venerable Oscar gala from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Already has Reinsve become historic as the first Norwegian winner of the award for best female lead during the Cannes Film Festival.
The online newspaper meets the two actors in the luxury villa Stanley House, where they have illustratively laid it at their feet with a panoramic view of the city. Here, apart from the occasional helicopter that travels over, only the sound of palm trees rustling in the warm breeze.
The calm is completely different than Reinsve and Danielsen Lie have been used to on both sides of the pond in the run-up to the award ceremony:
They have mingled with key industry figures, shaken hands with star colleagues, been followed by international press and been stopped by fans who want to talk about how much they can relate to the characters “Aksel” and “Julie”.

Can be irritated
For Danielsen Lie, it is difficult to choose one of the characters he identifies with in his life.
– I have gotten to know a lot of identification with Julie’s identity problem and the confused quest to find out who you are, I know myself very well in that.
He continues about his own character Aksel:
– The one that is a bit sentimental, the melancholy over time passing and that it is a bit melancholy, the love of physical format that we talk about in the film, I also feel very much in it, says Danielsen Lie.
The actor also reveals that the character Aksel in a specific scene has had the same effect on him as a stone in the shoe.
– I think he is a little annoying in the relationship when they end it. Then you often say things you do not mean and stuff, but I actually think he means it. I think he thinks he’s better than her at telling her what she’s thinking and feeling, and it’s pretty much like that… Then you exercise power over another person in a close relationship that is not entirely good.
Still, he takes the character in defense:
– That’s a bit what the film is about as well. We all have a little self-escape from time to time, we do not always like all aspects of ourselves, but it is about trying to learn to live with it and accept it.
Retreated
Another type of escape is the one Anders Danielsen Lie has made after the last scene in the critically acclaimed film was shot. Then he returned to the profession as a general practitioner at Frysja doctor’s office in Oslo.
– It has been a bit delicious, he admits and addresses co-actress Renate Reinsve:
– You have been in the spotlight all the time and it is quite demanding, then you have to deliver. It’s a job simply. I have had the privilege of retiring and being a doctor. It’s a little nice when you do not always have such a large social surplus.

It would turn out to be a complete reversal to a different, hectic everyday life, as the corona pandemic was at its worst.
Got hero status in American media
The “escape” also aroused the interest of American journalists and the renowned magazine Vanity Fair gave Danielsen Lie the title “doctor and Covid-19 hero”.
– It’s a bit like that when you launch a film in the US, then you have to have a story in the launch, he explains.
– I have had a working day in the last year that is very different from what I do now. I’ve worked full time as a doctor since we finished this recording, so I’m just told you what I do. And it seems they are incredibly strange and exotic. So it became a story, it has also somehow spread.
He himself chuckles a little at being hailed in grandiose, American style as a hero.
– You do not get a quote check either, but it has become as it has become, I just have to stand in it, he says with a twinkle in his eye, before he finds the seriousness again.
To be able to pay well-deserved attention to the important work done by health professionals during the pandemic has been an extra good tone in the middle of the Hollywood Symphony.
– I try to strike a blow for the district chiefs, the municipal chiefs and the infection team and everyone who, after all, has made a great effort then, and I really mean that. There are several front lines in the pandemic, including those who have handled this in everyday life and administratively, he points out.

Comeback after the Oscar lights go out
After the 94th Oscar award is history and the red carpet has been vacuumed and packed ready for 2023, the Norwegian actor will replace the tuxedo with the doctor’s coat.
However, it is not a goodbye to the acting profession.
– I still work as a general practitioner in the district, so that’s really what I do now. I’ve not been filming since we made this movie, but who knows, maybe I’ll have to go out on the sloping shores again soon. We’ll see, he concludes.
