Minister Schouten of Social Affairs is working on a scheme through which Surinamese Dutch citizens with an old-age pension can receive an ‘allowance’. That writes De Volkskrant today.
No money has been set aside for this in the coalition agreement. This must be released during the consultation on the Spring Memorandum in the coming weeks.
According to the newspaper the cabinet is not interested in closing the state pension gap of Surinamese Dutch. They can, however, receive a one-off amount, the amount of which will probably depend on the size of the AOW gap: more money for the elderly and less for the young.
The Ministry of Social Affairs says that the cabinet has not yet taken a decision. “So reporting is premature now,” the ministry said.
