environmental movements from all over the world, led by the student tide of Fridays For Future, will go out this Friday to the street to demand solutions to the climate crisis. This is how the last call for the global climate strike; a global protest that broke out in early 2019, at the hands of Greta Thunberg’s generation, and that after the break derived from the covid-19 pandemic try now recover the citizen clamor to protect the health of the planet and its inhabitants.
Under the motto ‘lives against capital‘ (‘People not profit’ in English), the strike denounces that the climate crisis is the direct responsibility ofa flawed socioeconomic model that urgently needs to be replaced”. “Rich nations are responsible for 92% of global emissions and the Richest 1% of the world’s population is responsible for twice the pollution produced by the poorest 50%”, denounces the manifesto launched by the platform of young environmentalists.
“We live in a world where economic profit is being prioritized before the well-being of people and the planet. And this is something unsustainable that we have to change as soon as possible”, exclaims Pere Joan Femenia Sastre, spokesperson for Youth for Climate Spain. “We know that fossil fuels wreak havoc on both the environment and people’s health, and yet we continue to dump them and fund their extraction. We also know that air pollution is a world-class problem and we don’t even This is how we managed to put a stop to it.We know both the problems and the solutions; It cannot be that we remain with our arms crossed“says the activist.

We need to apply measures as soon as possible to advance stop this crisis“, argues the ecologist.
According to Femenia Sastre, the fight against the climate crisis translates into actions on a small and large scale. “The world has to drastically reduce its emissions and decarbonise its economy. One of the slogans of this Friday’s strike, in fact, is precisely this cry for climate justice. And of the importance of helping the populations most affected by the advance of this crisis. “The poorest communities on the planetindigenous peoples and marginalized populations are being disproportionately affected by the effects of the climate crisis. They are the ones that have contributed the least to the problem and the ones that are suffering the most from its consequences,” denounces the call for this protest. “We need to give them resources. And not as a gesture of solidarity, but for justice,” the manifesto states.
The environmental strike this Friday aims to flood the streets of the whole world on the eve of world climate day and the already famous ‘Earth Hour’, the symbolic campaign that every year makes the world turn off the lights for a few minutes to raise awareness about the need to care for the environment. “The climate crisis is the greatest crisis that humanity has faced. We must explain very clearly the magnitude of the problem and make people understand the danger it poses. Only in this way will we be able to involve the whole world towards a more sustainable model change“, reflects Vallmitjana.”We are still in time to avoid the worst climate scenariosbut we have to act now,” says the activist.
