He pours cold water over the years to all those who hope and believe in an imminent peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

– The Russians have no interest in negotiating a ceasefire as long as the army has not achieved its goals, Borrell says.

Will occupy the coast

The EU’s foreign minister believes that Russia will occupy more countries before they say they are willing to enter into real peace talks.

He promises that the EU and its allies will continue to supply equipment to the Ukrainian military.

– It is important, because everything will be decided within the next 15 days. What will determine history is Ukraine’s capacity to resist, says Borrell in the interview.

Russia under pressure

On Thursday night, The Kyiv Independent writes that the Russians want to end the war before 9 May.

According to intelligence from the Ukrainian military, Russian troops have been informed that the war must be decided by 9 May. This day is celebrated in Russia as the day they defeated Nazi Germany, the newspaper writes.
