“Bavaria will continue the successful cooperation with the federal government in the ‘Initiative Bildungsketten’ until 2026”

MUNICH. The Bavarian state government, together with the Federal Ministries of Education and Research as well as of Labor and Social Affairs and the Federal Employment Agency, again signed an agreement as part of the initiative “Completion and Connection – Educational Chains up to Training Completion” with the aim of promoting the funding instruments at federal and state level to dovetail and thus prepare young people in the best possible way for starting a career. “With numerous support and advice offers for young people, teachers, parents and companies, we are there to help you choose and place the right job and specifically promote vocational training. In this way, we increase the proportion of young people who successfully complete vocational training or a course of study, and thus make a valuable contribution to securing the next generation of skilled workers for the Bavarian economy,” says Minister of Education Michael Piazolo at the signing of the agreement.

Bavaria’s pupils have a wide range of opportunities after their school days. Which path is the most suitable for the individual depends crucially on personal strengths and talents. With the agreement concluded by 2026, already successfully established measures from the previous agreement within vocational orientation and in the transition from school to work or study at state level will be supplemented and further developed by federal funding offers.

the Federal Minister of Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger explains: “We want to give every young person the best possible start in the world of work. This goal connects the federal government, the federal states and the Federal Employment Agency. Dual training is an excellent start to professional life and offers a wide range of career opportunities. With the ‘Educational Chains’ initiative, we will give young people who are interested in training even better support in their choice of career. We want them to recognize and develop their individual strengths. I am very pleased that Bavaria will continue to participate in the initiative in the years to come. This joint effort is important because we urgently need more skilled workers today.”

Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Hubertus Heil: “In the Education Chains initiative, the federal government, the federal states and the Federal Employment Agency work hand in hand to give young people a good start in their professional lives. The youth employment agencies, which already exist in many places in Bavaria and offer young people orientation, also play an important role here. We will support the further expansion and qualitative development of these contact points. It is important that young people continue to see their prospects in in-company vocational training. Because these professionals are our future. For this we need the cooperation of all actors. I am therefore very pleased about the conclusion of the new education chain agreement with Bavaria.”

In the agreement, all offers for young people are listed and presented in a total of eight fields of action, from “vocational orientation” to “innovative paths in vocational training” to “expansion of inclusive approaches at the transition from school to work”. This makes it possible to create an overview of the numerous measures and it shows in which area new support offers are helpful. In the field of “systematic parent involvement”, the project #parentsonboard informed parents – strengthened kids will start in 2022, which will be scientifically supported over the project period. Minister of Education Piazolo: “Parents have a great influence on their children’s career and study choices. For this reason, we support them in giving their children the best possible support in choosing a career.” In cooperation with SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Bayern, parents are addressed via social media and are better informed and made aware of their children’s career choices through targeted advisory services. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
