Comedian Alex Agnew cancels performance at Werchter Werchter: “Wrong time, wrong place, wrong idea”

Last year Alex Agnew played a show at Werchter Parklife, in front of a limited and seated audience of 500 people. That open-air comedy show was already a first, but now Agnew wanted to take the production much bigger and play in front of a standing festival audience of up to 60,000 people. However, that turned out to be a bridge too far.

However, Agnew can handle a large audience. He has already sold out the Sportpaleis in Antwerp 12 times with three different shows. Now he seems to want to tackle it on a smaller scale again, with an extensive tour of theaters and cultural centers.

The show “Wake me up when it’s over” was created during the corona crisis. It had a major impact on the culture agenda in general and also on Agnew’s personal agenda. “This is what you get when you lock Alex Agnew in his head for two years,” he said when announcing the show.
