Latest Honda HR-V ‘Made In Indonesia’, Targeted to Sell 35,000 Units a Year

Second generation Honda HR-V officially launched in Indonesia. This car is also produced at the Karawang factory with local or local purchase which also increased to 80 percent.

The All New Honda HR-V 2022 brings a new refresh, in terms of interior, exterior and also performance. It is hoped that this latest model can continue the success of the previous HR-V generation.

“The Honda HR-V in the first generation was produced by Karawang, the second was also made by the Karawang factory. So this is made in Indonesia,” said Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor, Yusak Billy during a press conference, Wednesday (23/3/ 2022).

“Local purchases for the first generation are 70 percent, for the second generation local purchases are more than 80 percent. Between 80 and 82.5 percent. So the increase is very high,” he added.

Billy added with increased local content. The price of the latest generation HR-V with Honda Sensing features also did not experience a significant increase from the previous version.

“We proudly convey that the second generation and generation, it is only around Rp. 1 – 3 million. Because we do a lot of efficiency activities, increase local content, better technology. So we get better exhaust emissions,” he explained.

Prior to its launch in the country, the second generation of Honda HR-V was introduced in Japan, Thailand and Europe with positive responses from consumers. Even within a month since its launch in Japan, the second generation Honda HR-V has recorded sales of more than 50,000 units.

The car that competes in the medium segment of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) has sold 208,749 units since its introduction in Indonesia in 2015. What is the target in Indonesia?

“Frankly, the scarcity of semiconductor chips is still natural, we continue to monitor its development, we maximize the product with availability with the availability of existing components,” said Billy.

“Especially for the All New HR-V, this month we will deliver 1,300 units to our distributor network, 1,800 units next month. Our target for 12 months is 35 thousand,” he explained.

The All New Honda HR-V 2022 is sold in four different variants. The lowest price was released with a tag of Rp. 355.9 million. While the highest type is turbocharged and sold at a price of Rp. 499.9 million.
